Blackpool is still Britain 's most popular holiday destination, with an incredible array of year round attractions and events to choose from. By far and away the most iconic place to visit is the incredible Blackpool Tower which stands 158 metres high, with panoramic views from the top. Nearby is the world famous pleasure beach, a mecca for adrenaline fuelled thrill seekers of all ages, who arrive in droves to ride Europe's tallest rollercoaster. The historic tram still runs along the seafront to the Central Pier, where there are abundant eateries, offering anything from the quintessentially British fish and chip supper to modern contemporary cuisine. The quirky nature of Blackpool means that on a stroll along the well kept New South Promenade you can literally encounter anything, from retro pop art to the worlds biggest mirror ball!

Blackpool really comes alive after dark, with a glittering 6 miles of illuminations along the seafront. The nightlife in the region is absolutely second to none, with clubs bars and restaurants jostling for your custom. A visit to Blackpool just wouldn't be complete without seeing the Winter Gardens, where a wide array of events and big name shows take place all year round. With its wealth of attractions and wonderful sandy beaches it's likely that Blackpool will long continue its reign as the holiday capital of the North West.

The Wildlife and Countryside

Blackpool & Lancashire have two spectacular Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty teeming with fauna and flora of all varieties. Who could fail to be captivated by an early morning stroll amongst the bluebells on the country paths of the utterly inspiring Forest of Bowland?

With so much to do each day, you will almost certainly work up an appetite, giving you the perfect opportunity to try some of the local cuisine; dine on delicious locally reared Bowland Beef or the incredibly indulgent Morecambe Bay potted shrimps.

Historic Lancaster

The university city of Lancaster offers wealth of history, having sprung to life as a Roman Fort in 80 AD; it's now a formidable opponent to other tourist venues in the region. Wander through its cobbled streets, take time to visit the montage of shops, bars and restaurants. Dominating the city is the impressive Lancaster Castle, dating back to 1093 and incredibly still used to this day as a courthouse. A few short miles away from Blackpool lie the duel seaside towns of Lytham St Annes and Fylde. Offering a picturesque coastline, boutique style shops and of course the world famous golf course, the area has a quieter atmosphere than Blackpool, and is popular with visitors looking for a relaxing break. Another coastal spot worthy of mention is the well loved Morecambe Bay, a real national treasure with everything from sunny shores to a grade II listed Victorian Pavilion. One of the best known residents of the area was comedian Eric Morecombe, to whom there is a statue erected in the town.

The iconic waterfront and stunning architecture of the city have earned it World Heritage Status, coupled with its fabulous nightlife and copious shops this unique city epitomises the word stylish.

From its chic hotels to its stylish clubs and bars Manchester has earned a reputation as the party hub of the north.
